unu-life aims to heighten appreciation of our environment.
It could be argued that “the values attributed to objects are not properties of the things themselves, but judgements made through encounters people have with them.” (Cummings, N. & Lewandowska, M. 2000: 20) This said, unu believes that there is intrinsic quality to be found at the core of everything: a reflection of both its physical properties and the narratives of its creation.
Through the physical and conceptual deconstruction of our surroundings and exploring the relationships we have with them, unu-life hopes to highlight this inherent value. The most complicated objects can be broken into simple forms and the simplest forms are often the result of very elaborate processes. Understanding this deconstruction and appreciating these complexities can infuse the objects around us with an additional value they did not possess before.
